MEXC will stop serving users in Russia and Belarus to comply with international regulatory requirements, the crypto exchange said on October 20, The Defiant reported.

Affected customers will receive individual notices by email and in-app message setting deadlines to close trading positions and withdraw their assets, The Moscow Times reported. MEXC has not published a single cutoff date and said user assets will remain secure during the transition.

Bitget made a similar exit days earlier

The move follows Bitget’s decision to add Russia and Belarus, along with Kazakhstan, to its list of prohibited jurisdictions. From October 18, Bitget barred affected customers from opening new trades or using new products and told them to close positions and withdraw assets before it begins forcibly closing positions and restricting account access.

Nikita Zuborev, a senior analyst at BestChange, told RBC that the threat of secondary sanctions and rising compliance costs are making Russian customers increasingly risky for international exchanges. Industry figures said the exits could signal a broader retreat by global platforms from Russia.
