Binance has applied for authorization to provide crypto services in Brazil in an effort to maintain its presence in one of Latin America’s largest crypto markets before a regulatory deadline on Oct. 30, Cointelegraph reported Tuesday.

Under Resolution No. 520 issued by Brazil’s central bank last November, existing virtual asset service providers must apply to the Central Bank of Brazil for authorization within 270 days of the rules taking effect on Feb. 2, 2026.

Companies that submit applications on time can continue providing crypto services while their applications are reviewed, while those that miss the deadline must cease operations within 30 days after the deadline.

Binance filed its application with the Central Bank of Brazil on Oct. 23 through its local entity, BBrasil, according to the report. The application is expected to help Brazilian customers retain access to crypto assets, stablecoin trading, payment services and investment products.

The resolution also restricts lending, fundraising and investments in other regulated financial institutions, while requiring custodians to safeguard private keys, maintain updated records of customer holdings and follow authorized transaction instructions.

As part of its compliance measures, Binance is restricting crypto lending, margin trading and other services from Oct. 27 and removing 22 crypto assets from its Brazilian offerings.
