Coinbase expects its subscription and services business to bring in between $550 million and $630 million in the fourth quarter. That range came alongside a forecast for adjusted expenses of $1.007 billion to $1.157 billion.

The exchange also said transaction revenue for the quarter-to-date stood at about $165 million.

The numbers behind the guidance

The outlook arrived with Coinbase’s third-quarter results, released on October 29, 2026. Subscription and services revenue came in at $570 million for Q3.

That edged past market expectations of roughly $564 million. Total revenue for the quarter was $1.22 billion, and transaction revenue reached $590 million.

The Q4 subscription range straddles that Q3 figure. The low end of $550 million sits below the $570 million just reported, while the high end of $630 million sits above it.

The company tied the guidance to pressure from weaker crypto market conditions. Specifically, it pointed to a lower average USDC market capitalization and reduced staking rates.

Where the growth is coming from

Paid Coinbase One subscribers rose 24% year-over-year, landing at an all-time high.

Prediction markets are another emerging line. Coinbase projects that business will generate more than $200 million in annualized revenue.

Average USDC held in Coinbase products hit a record $22 billion.

A long pivot away from trading fees

CEO Brian Armstrong struck an optimistic tone about the long-term outlook for the crypto industry. He acknowledged some immediate cyclical challenges while framing the company’s direction around diversification and less reliance on transaction revenue.

In the third quarter, the two main revenue lines were nearly neck and neck: $590 million from transactions versus $570 million from subscriptions and services.

What this means

The Q4 guidance shows that subscription and services income is still exposed to market conditions, just through different channels than trading. Lower USDC market capitalization and reduced staking rates are both functions of the broader crypto cycle.

The quarter-to-date transaction figure of about $165 million offers an early read on trading activity, though it covers only part of the quarter and will move as volumes shift.

The adjusted expense forecast of $1.007 billion to $1.157 billion gives Coinbase room to keep investing, but it also sets a high bar for revenue to clear if margins are to hold.

A 24% jump in paid Coinbase One subscribers and a prediction markets business projected at more than $200 million annualized are not small side projects anymore.
