Stellar’s focus on real-world financial applications is attracting growing interest from governments, M1X Global co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Jordan Goldman said at the Stellar Development Foundation’s Meridian 2026 conference, in an interview CoinDesk posted on Wednesday. “This is where governments want to interact,” he said.

Sovereign debt issued onchain

M1X Global works with the Republic of the Marshall Islands on USDM1, a dollar-denominated sovereign debt instrument issued natively on public blockchains and backed 1:1 by short-duration US Treasuries, according to the company. USDM1 supports the country’s universal basic income program, which pays citizens through a digital wallet.
